Russia will lift the ban on deliveries of all fruits and vegetables from Egypt except potato, Russian veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said on Monday.
“Parties reached an agreement following the meeting on resumption of fruits and vegetables supplies from Egypt to Russia, except potato, provided that the Egyptian side meets all Russia’s requirements in terms of phytosanitary purity of lots,” the Russian authority said.
The Russian delegation of experts will visit Egypt in October – November 2016 to evaluate efficiency of measures undertaken by Egypt to comply with Russian phytosanitary requirements to potatoes supplies. “The protocol pertaining to potatoes export from Egypt to Russia will be reviewed during that visit,” Rosselkhoznadzor said.
Temporary restrictions on import of vegetable products from Egypt were introduced since September 22 in view of continued supplies of quarantineable products unsafe in phytosanitary terms.
