In order to resume trade in beef and chicken with three Brazilian slaughterhouses, a Chinese delegation arrived in Brazil on Monday (16) to visit three manufacturing establishments in southern Brazil. The intent of Chinese auditors, who will stay until Friday (20th), is to evaluate the service of the plants that had suspended exports last year, due to certification problems and to possibly resume trade.
According to the acting director of the Department of Inspection and Animal Products of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), Leandro Feijó, the visit is positive for Brazil since China has interest in returning to import meat from these slaughterhouses. “The Chinese are very optimistic about the fixes. The reason for the suspension was of a bureaucratic nature. As for hygienic-sanitary issues they will be checked in the establishments for microbiological control and for residue and contaminants”, he stressed.
During the meeting with authorities of Mapa, Chinese technicians were able to deepen their knowledge about the actions of the Agriculture Defense System promoted by the Ministry.
