BRICS Information Sharing and Exchange Platform (hereinafter referred to as BRICS Portal) is the authoritative platform of BRICS-related information jointly developed by the Center for BRICS Studies of Fudan University and the BRICS Business Council.
BRICS Information Sharing and Exchange Platform is a project approved by the Third BRICS Economic Ministers Meeting during the 2013 BRICS Summit, as the first of the eight cooperation projects that are going to be promoted by the BRICS countries together during 2013-2014 in the “BRICS Trade and Investment Cooperation Framework” adopted at the meeting. According to the principles formulated at the Third Economic Ministers Meeting that an independent third party is to build and operate the platform, “BRICS Trade and Investment Cooperation Framework” clearly stated that the Center for BRICS Studies of Fudan University (hereinafter referred to as the Center) and the ‘Collaborative Innovation Center for BRICS Cooperation and Global Governance’ led by it should undertake the development and operation of the platform to make the platform the most authoritative information platform, so as to boost the trade and investment ties between the BRICS countries by providing stable, reliable and sustainable information services.
On September 11, 2013, under the auspices of Vice Minister of Commerce of PRC Yu Jianhua, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Weng Tiehui, as well as the Consul-Generals in Shanghai of BRICS countries, the platform was officially put into operation.
With the joint development by the Center for BRICS Studies of Fudan University and the BRICS Business Council, the BRICS Portal is dedicated to providing high-quality information services with a view to promote BRICS cooperation in global governance.
