Russian subsidiary of Renault started exports of cars assembled in Moscow and Tolyatti to Vietnam, the company’s press service reported Thursday.
“Those are the first export supplies of light vehicles from Russia to the country,” Director General of Renault Russia Andrey Pankov was quoted as saying.
The plan is to export Renault Logan and Sandero Stepway produced by Tolyatti-based Avtovaz and Renault Duster assembled in Moscow.
Supplies to Vietnam mark the beginning of a new era for the Russian industrial project of Renault-Nissan-Avtovaz alliance, aimed at Russia’s further integration in the global car market, the company reported.
“Export is becoming increasingly important in light of the car production development strategy aimed at providing import substitution and enhancing competitiveness of the Russian products,” Pankov said, adding that “cars produced in Russia with high local content, are supplied to non-CIS market for the first time.”.
